It has been brought to our attention that in certain circles – not necessarily those harbouring the greatest taste – ballroom renovations are all the rage. Some of you have been begging us for our style tips, and who are we to deny you our interior design genius?

Take note, dearest friends, and see what is bon chic, bon genre in 2026. Hint: not a leaf of gilt in sight…
Start with the foundation
Floor treatment. Nobunny wants to hop along cold and bare floors. Under no circumstance should feet touch slippery floors, which we all know are lava.
Edible rugs are the way forward: coir, sisal, tightly woven grass are all good options.
For extra kudos and to be bang on trend, go second hand.

Clever seating
Once the basics are in place – edible carpets – then shift your attention to your seating options. On our essential wishlist:
- Edible
- Comfortable
- Locally sourced
- Warm
- Nice to have: Stylish
We sent our staff to the nearest farm shop and had her purchase two bales of meadow hay at a cost of around a fiver each.

Upon delivery, we of course took care of the final touches and deployed our bunstruction techniques to loosen the bales for added comfort and style.

Add a statement piece
Every ballroom needs a focal point and the best way to achieve this is by investing in a statement piece.
To us elderbuns comfort is key, and we opted for a lounge mat in a vibrant red for a pop of colour amid the neutrals. This draws the eye towards where the action is, be it lounging, looking good, or having a freshly baked bum snack, or cecal.

Accessorise
Don’t overlook the details and be sure to accessorise your ballroom. We like home made best, and like to dot the room with small donations, giving it that elevated look we’re after.
Be whimsical and add in some fluff and some artfully arranged sprigs from your seating, and you too can achieve this classy look.
Finally, do display those thoughtful gifts from your fanbase. It makes them feel connected to your narrative, and keeps them clicking those share buttons and affiliate links, of course.
We’re into crockery at the moment, but it can be anything you fancy.

So there you have it, styling a ballroom doesn’t have to be about destroying what is already there, but working within your budget, choosing home made and natural materials and knowing where to invest.
